Description

The Kesher Israel Synagogue was originally built in 1793. Its earliest members consisted primarily of Russian Jews who were later joined by other Eastern European Jews. In the 1870's, the building was abandoned, and then was purchased in 1889 by the congregation Chevra B'nai Jacob.
