Forming Stetson Hat Bodies
Title
Forming Stetson Hat Bodies
Description
Located in the Forming Department of the John B. Stetson Company, Philadelphia, the fur was blown on to a revolving copper cone, minutely perforated, which was about three feet high, forming a thin covering of felt. This cone and the felt, protected by a metal covering, were placed in hot water. After this step the formed body was removed. This was the first step in the shaping of the hat.
