Jara begins by reflecting on his early childhood memories and family in Mexico City; he remembers his first home and the family and pets that lived there with him as well as the bigger home his family moved to outside of the city. He continues to speak about his relationships with different family members and how he met his current husband and subsequently coming out as gay to his family. Jara concludes the interview speaking about Philadelphia and his new life in the city; he frequently volunteers with homeless shelters and LGBT organizations within the city while attending ESL classes and applying for permanent jobs.
